Common themes in my paintings include animals and plants particularly squirrels, cats, tigers, tortoise rabbits etc. They are either in land or water surrounded by all kinds of flora and fauna.
Always the rapid sketches of these animals and their movements in the zoo or garden gives the basic structure to these paintings. The canvas, papers or wooden panels have been cut into various abstract shapes to be worked on with colours and gesso for texture .
The subjects in the works most of the time are perceived as patterns or shapes in itself where one has to find out the hidden forms. It has a sense of childlike stories of animals and their daily lives. I am interested in integrating background and foreground together in a painting where the web of textures is used to defuse the differences of forms as I am curious to see the landscape in the animals and visa versa .
