My work explores the different aspects of memory and figuration. The various figures, whose inspiration is drawn from people I see around me every day, mainly my family, play a major role in the creation of my works. Maneuvering through the themes of reminiscence and thought, I navigate mundane life around me. The subjects emerge from my own experiences and encounters. Memory changes constantly. It is something so ephemeral and volatile, that a single place can hold a myriad palette of images and emotions at different times. I layer these continually changing depictions onto the canvas. Some objects disappear while others rise to the surface, figures are reconstructed as the same, unchanged place carries different memories from varying times. The tenderness and warmth of the final portrayal are constructed after several layers of nostalgic elements overlap in the overall narrative. The colors are influenced by my personal love of fauvism and the moods that reflect my innate sensibilities.
